Mani SEC-O Files are safe ended endodontic hand files designed to eliminate the most common iatrogenic risk of standard K-Files and H-Files: apical canal transportation. The SEC-O designation refers to the non cutting rounded tip that replaces the acute cutting angle of an active hand file. Manufactured in Japan by Mani Inc., SEC-O Files come in two variants: SEC-O K Files for canal negotiation and shaping, and SEC-O H Files for retrieving obstructions such as separated instruments, fractured carriers, or compacted gutta percha. The clinical value of a safe ended tip becomes obvious in curved canal anatomy. A standard cutting tip in the apical third of a curved molar canal will preferentially cut on the outer wall of the curve, transporting the canal away from its original trajectory and producing the classic zip or elbow deformation. The SEC-O safety tip slides along the outer wall instead of cutting into it, maintaining original canal anatomy and reducing the risk of ledging, perforation, and apical transportation. Reduced canal transportation correlates directly with cleaner canals, less postoperative pain, and improved long term endodontic outcomes. SEC-O K Files are used with the standard quarter turn watch winding motion at working length. SEC-O H Files are used after a standard K-File or D Finder has bypassed the canal obstruction, with the H File then inserted past the obstruction and pulled coronally to engage the flutes against the blockage. Both variants are available in 21mm and 25mm working lengths, in ISO sizes consistent with their parent file class, and are manufactured from Mani's 18-8 hard-fiber stainless steel with PBT shanks rated for repeated autoclave sterilization. Key Features Non cutting safety tip prevents apical transportation in curved canals Available in SEC-O K (negotiation and shaping) and SEC-O H (obstruction retrieval) Rounded tip slides along the outer canal wall instead of cutting it Reduces ledging, perforation, and zip deformation in apical anatomy ISO 0.02 taper compatible with standard hand and rotary protocols Available in 21mm and 25mm working lengths Mani 18-8 hard-fiber stainless steel with mirror finished flutes ISO color-coded silicone handles for instant chairside identification Documented clinical correlation with reduced postoperative pain Pack of 6 files per box, Made in Japan by Mani Inc.
