The figure rendered in layered transparent watercolour stands with quiet weight on the picture surface, a body going through one more day. ■ About the Artist Raktim Chatterjee is a painter and video artist based in Hooghly, West Bengal, India. He studied at the Indian College of Art & Draftsmanship, Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata (BVA, 2004), and has exhibited continuously at major art institutions across India, including the Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata and the Birla Academy of Art & Culture. In 2012, he participated in the Glenfiddich Artist Program, an international artist residency. Working primarily in transparent watercolour on paper, Chatterjee builds images through multiple layers and deliberate abrasion — retaining rawness and instability in the finished surface.
