At the same time, I was on Nantucket, spending summers at the First Bridge off Madaket Road — hand lines in the water, buckets filling up fast. When the band and I swapped stories, we realized we grew up the exact same way — just on different bays and ponds. Same blue crabs. Same sunburned shoulders. Same love of bold seasoning. While they were building the band that would define a generation of pop punk, my friends and I were blasting “Dear Maria, Count Me In” driving around Nantucket as teenagers — bangs a little too long and hoodies a little too emo for the island. Last summer we had the band out on Nantucket for what turned into an all-time hang — playing a show for the island and swapping more stories about crabbing and summers that shaped us. Somewhere between the dock talk and the soundcheck, this wacky Bay Spice idea came to life. It felt less like a collaboration and more like something that had been sitting there all along — waiting to happen. It was never just a phase — it was a lifestyle
