Domaine Dujac Echezeaux 2023
Domaine Dujac Echezeaux 2023 An exuberantly spicy nose of exotic jasmine tea, dried orange peel, black cherry, plum and soft wood precedes lilting and ultra-fine flavors that retain excellent precision on the powerful finish that tightens up markedly on the firm, long and very serious finale. Despite not being a monster of concentration, this is also clearly going to need time in bottle to realize its considerable potential. Date: Jan 2025; Drink: 2038++; Rating 93-95 Points; Allen Meadows; Burghound Almost 100% whole bunch vinification for the Echezeaux. A beautiful vivid ruby purple. The nose is deliciously perfumed, a wine very much at ease with itself. Equally gracious on the palate, delivering a silky red fruit with refined tannins, and excellent persistence. Jeremy notes that they only really began to discover the hoped for silkiness in the Echezeaux after conversion to biodynamic farming – which for this vineyard began in 2001. It has fine delineation and focus. The palate is mediumbodied with svelte tannins and a keen line of acidity. It's quite structured on the back end, perhaps not manifesting the same complexity as the 2022, but it is a masterclass in restraint and poise. Date: Nov 2024; Drink: 2027 - 2048; Rating: 92-94 Points; Neal Martin; Vinous The 2023 Echezeaux Grand Cru is one of the bigger, more exuberant wines in the cellar, bursting with aromas of smoky plums, smoked duck, spices and orange zest. Full-bodied, broad and fleshy, it's layered and concentrated, with a long, saline finish. Date: Jan 2025; Rating: 93-95 Points; William Kelley; Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate
