VERY FINE 18TH CENTURY INLAID TEA CADDY
A particularly fine 18th century George III period TEA CADDY in lovely original condition. This beautiful caddy is veneered in harewood and profusely inlaid with flowers and leaves to all four sides; the top and the canted corners, arranged around burr yew oval panels themselves framed with chequered borders. Both the lid and the base are further inlaid with multiple lines and cross-banding, whilst a turned bone knop is fitted to the lid with a matching bone escutcheon. The interior retains its original inner lid. A fabulous caddy of vibrant colour and good warm patina. 14 cms high; 12 cms wide. circa 1785. ** This fine George III Tea Caddy is not on view in the shop.
