This Orthodox Cross Necklace is rich with sacred imagery, Church Slavonic inscriptions, and traditional Christian symbolism. Every side of the piece is filled with meaning — from the Crucifixion on the front, to the saints, angels, and prayerful inscriptions throughout the necklace. At the center of the front is the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Around Christ are the traditional Church Slavonic inscriptions: ІС ХС — the abbreviated form of Jesus Christ. ЦРЬ СЛАВЫ — “King of Glory,” proclaiming that the One crucified on the Cross is also the victorious Lord. ІНЦІ — the inscription placed above Christ on the Cross, meaning “Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews.” НИКА — “Conquers” or “is victorious,” declaring Christ’s victory over sin, death, and evil. Together, these inscriptions make the cross not only a piece of jewelry, but a powerful confession of faith: Jesus Christ conquers. The side of the cross is engraved all around with the Jesus Prayer in Church Slavonic: Господи Іисусе Христе, Сыне Божій, помилуй мя грѣшнаго “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.” This prayer is one of the most beloved prayers in Eastern Christian tradition.
