How many chairmen actually acquired a bottle is unknown, but it was part of the prestigious long since discontinued 1700 series originally designed for the Chinese market and launched around 2001. Sometimes, the label comes in Chinese, and the series was phased out in 2012 in order to make way for the 1824 series. It is now a rare item for collectors and said to reflect the premium Sherry seasoned cask maturation typical of older Macallan releases. And all the rarer when it comes in the original box.
