Some water-based stains tend to change color more drastically on certain wood species, primarily cherry and hickory. Due to factors like density, light absorption, grain structure, and even age, cherry and hickory can be difficult to standardize with transparent stains. The Nutmeg stain has shown much more color continuity on these species compared to our other transparent mid tone brown stains. Nutmeg is available in Maple, Birch, Cherry, White Oak, Red Oak, and Hickory species as standard.
