Blankets

Website will accept payment for the handful of Blankets on hand now. We'll have a few more in June ... after we fill the pre-orders from April. We make Blankets in all our Jacquard Fabrics, including Natural White (Undyed) Fabric, in both FullWeight and MidWeight Fabrics, all sizes. Natural White is actually a cream color, which can be seen in the color palette. Natural White is sheep-industry lingo for the most common shade of wool. Please let us know if you'd like a Blanket in (pure wool) Denim or even perhaps Whipcord. The Blanket story, for us ... We did not plan to make Blankets but people wearing WeatherWool asked for them, and they were very well received. Andy McMurry, one of our Advisors and Ranchers, mentioned to us some research that wool's thermoregulatory properties help infants and adults sleep better. We did find a link to material published by Woolmark, a division of Australian Wool Innovation. Other studies also indicate that wool helps babies sleep better, offering protection from cold, heat and moisture. There is also some very interesting info available from the people at Wool Sleeping Bag ... and THANKS to them!! We'd be very interested to know about any other studies regarding wool bedding or sleepwear. We believe one of the under-appreciated aspects of woolens is that wool is very healthful. ... And compared to synthetics? Blankets could be made from any of our Fabrics. although we don't think Whipcord would be suitable for a Blanket because of its smooth, cool finish. But, maybe someone will want one? We can try it out. Our Fabrics are not scratchy and almost everyone will find them comfortable against bare skin. Small/ Crib: 36 inches (117 cm) wide by 50 inches (152 cm) long. Weighs 1 pound, 12 ounces (792 grams) and in Deni or in MidWeight 1 pound 2 ounces (509 grams) Medium/ Throw: Approximately 50 inches (127 cm) by 70 inches (178 cm). The FullWeight Medium Blanket weights 3 pounds, 3 ounces (1443 grams) and in Denim or in MidWeight, 2 pounds 2 ounces (962 grams). Twin Bed Blanket: 65 inches / 165 cm by 90 inches / 229 cm. The Twin in FullWeight weighs about 5.5 pounds / 2.5 kg and in MidWeight about 3.8 pounds / 1.7 kg ... Because the dimensions of the Twin are not compatible with the width of our bolts of Fabric, we are not offering Twins now. We are hoping to make wider bolts Queen Bed Blanket: 90 inches / 229 cm by 100 inches / 254 cm. The Queen in FullWeight weighs about 8 pounds, 12 ounces / 4 kg. In MidWeight, the Queen weighs about 6 pounds 4 ounces / 2.8 kg King Bed Blanket: 108 inches / 274 cm by 100 inches 254 cm. In FullWeight Fabric, the King weighs about 10 pounds / 4.5 kg. In MidWeight, the King weighs about 7 pounds / 3.2 kg The weights of the larger Blankets will vary not only with the particular batch of Fabric, but with the design of the borders and interior panels. King and Queen Blanket edges are hand-finished. The edges of the other Blankets are merrowed with double-needle. Custom Blankets made to order are possible, but that is likely to become a real project. Shemaghs (similar to a small blanket) are available.
