Beginners DIY Workshop Saturday 18th July 2026
Beginners DIY is a one day introduction to start you on your own journey decorating and maintaining your own home. You will learn the basic tool kit required for most jobs and get hands on experience using them all. Time: 9.30am – 4.30pm By the end of the day all participants will: Understand a cordless drill and its functions Understand the construction of both plasterboard and masonry walls How to find battens and hidden electrics /plumbing Know how to drill into both surfaces Understand 4 different drill bits. Masonry, wood/plasterboard, screw ( with & without extension), countersink. What wall anchors to use for different weights and how to match them to drill bit size How to safely remove wall anchors and fill holes How to hang different type of brackets on walls The difference between caulk and filler & how and when to use both How to measure, drill into and cut wood, using a handsaw and mitre box, a chop saw and a jigsaw How to find 45% angle for creating picture rail panelling How to measure a wall for batton and board panelling and how to rip down an MDF board to create the panels.
