Ilex verticillata , 'Winter Gold' winterberry
Variety description: A heavy producer of orange-yellow berries (if a male pollinator is present and hungry migratory birds are absent). Rather slow growing, multi-stemmed shrub with an upright-rounded habit. Lustrous dark green leaves (to 3” long) turn yellow-bronze in fall. Site requirements: Prefers moist, acidic soils high in organic matter. In the winter winterberry holly in found on the margins of swamps, ponds and streams. Full sun to part shade. Pests and diseases: None of concern. Plants will not tolerate alkaline soil. Hardiness: USDA zones 3-9 Plant size: Own root shrub, grown in a 4" x 9" tree pot. When we ship: FALL 2026
