Cath has known this lovely old German violin for many years, as it journeyed down through three generations of the same family. Distinctive wear on the treble side of the scroll evidences a much earlier period of its life, bearing witness to a playing style that dates to around two hundred years ago. The maple back has a beautiful, soft flame, and the warm, golden brown oil varnish tells its own story through its natural wear patterns. The tone is rich, with directness and a great core and depth, complemented with wonderful high overtones and an aristocratic and refined character. This will make a lovely, versatile instrument for any advanced player.
