Māmakilaʻa Pullover Aloha Shirt- Hibiscus

This pullover aloha shirt features our Māmakilaʻa print on Hibiscus print on Limestone Ink. Māmakilaʻa In the uplands near Kīlauea Volcano, we came across an incredible māmaki tree. The leaf veins were a blood red and its edges were deeply serrated. At that time, we were searching for māmaki to dye our pāʻū and this specimen was perfect! We give the name, Māmaki-laʻa to honor both plant and place. (Laʻa for ʻOlaʻa) The māmaki is a very useful plant! Besides using the leaves for dyeing our pāʻū, a cleansing tea is brewed to reduce high blood pressure, lower cholesterol, remove toxins from the blood, promoting a healthy immune system. I like to call this an elixir for life! Inspired by the ivy-league shirts of the early 1900s, the fabric designs are pure Hawai‘i, and the look is pleasingly fresh. The Pullover features a half placket and is designed slightly wider to allow over-the-head dressing with ease. Coconut buttons are featured on the stand-up, button-down collar and on the front placket. Tuck it in or leave it out over the trousers for a more casual look. Either way, it's the perfect touch of crisp aloha!
