Impost
The rectangle anchors the lower half of the composition — stable, horizontal, flat — and from its upper-left corner, the large circle rises. The relationship is structurally legible: base form below, circular form above, the two sharing a corner and a boundary. Made using a hand tufting technique in 100% New Zealand wool, the pile holds both forms within the same continuous surface; there is no color change, only the drawn line to mark the transition. The 15 to 20 mm in thickness gives the surface a physical weight that matches the visual one — a grounded object resolved from the floor up.
