Maximiliano Tineo - El Rey Blanco (signed)

Dunes Editions 2026 El Rey Blanco's project begins with two triangular forms located within the same region: a mountain and a geographical area defined by three points. The mountain, now known as Cerro de Potosí, was the most significant silver mine in human history. During the Spanish colonial occupation of Latin America, it was intensively exploited until its resources were exhausted. The geographical area, known as the Lithium Triangle, spans Bolivia, Argentina, and Chile, and contains nearly 70% of the world's lithium reserves—often referred to as the new "white gold." Through a dreamlike visual language inspired by a legend retracing the journey of the Spanish conquistadors, Argentine artist Maximiliano Tineo draws a parallel between these two triangles. His work explores the exploitation of natural resources and examines its human, economic, and environmental consequences.
