Hand-Embroidered Pouch by Khayzaran

A rectangular zip pouch richly embroidered with repeating cross-shaped stitches in gold, cream and warm yellow, set against a deep burgundy and black grid. The dense geometric pattern draws on traditional Yemeni stitches, motifs and colour palettes, while a soft gold tassel adds an elegant finishing touch. This hand-embroidered pouch was made by Khayzaran, a self-taught embroiderer who co-founded YENOF’s embroidery programme with Nouria Nagi OBE in 2013. She has since led numerous workshops and taught Yemeni hand embroidery to several women. Her earlier work in restoration and documentation continues to inform her practice, and she has played a central role in YENOF’s preservation projects by training and supervising participants while creating her own wall pieces. Her work has also been featured in several contemporary art exhibitions. Handmade and intricately detailed, this is a one-of-a-kind piece, with only one available.
