A special-edition band collar shirt that is not included in PREQUEL’s regular collection. It is made using the same original PREQUEL fabric featured in the S1012 Classic Open Collar Shirt. Inspired by a French textile archive dating back approximately 100 years, the fabric was carefully studied and reinterpreted for the present day, then used to create this exclusive Shop Custom Edition. Unlike our regular collection, this piece was produced specifically for sale through selected PREQUEL stockists. It was not manufactured for regular release through the PREQUEL Official Online Store. The very limited quantity available here consists only of reserve pieces originally set aside to ensure fulfillment of our stockists’ orders, together with a small number remaining from production adjustments. Created through our collaboration with selected stockists, this is a slightly different expression of PREQUEL from our regular collection. We hope you enjoy the distinctive character of this special Shop Custom Edition. FABRIC FROM A FRENCH TEXTILE ARCHIVE, CIRCA 100 YEARS AGO. The starting point for this fabric was a French textile archive dating back approximately a century. Rather than simply reproducing the original pattern, we studied its weave structure, yarn counts, density, and the subtle interplay of colors, then reconstructed these elements as an original PREQUEL fabric for contemporary clothing. Fine-count yarns are woven at a high density, while a dyeing method inspired by the traditional Japanese technique of kasuri creates subtle variations in color and a distinctive sense of depth that cannot be achieved through conventional printing. The fabric is carefully woven on a jacquard loom using a double-weave construction. Despite its intricate surface and the distinctive presence associated with vintage textiles, the fabric feels remarkably light and soft when worn. It retains the atmosphere and nuanced character of an antique textile while being reimagined as a fabric that can be worn naturally and comfortably in everyday life. DESIGN The design is based on a classic band collar shirt, reinterpreted with PREQUEL’s own sense of proportion and balance. The minimal band collar, stripped of a conventional shirt collar, recalls early work shirts and dress shirts, giving the piece a quiet, understated presence. Its clean neckline creates a distinctive expression that remains subtle yet memorable. By intentionally keeping the design restrained, the intricate weave and subtle variations in color of the original fabric are allowed to take center stage. It works naturally as a standalone shirt, while the clean neckline also sits comfortably beneath a jacket or cardigan. The balanced silhouette makes it easy to pair with everything from tailored trousers to denim. A fabric inspired by a century-old textile archive, combined with the timeless simplicity of a classic band collar.
