A section of sterling silver is incorporated directly into the bangle, creating the striking mixed-metal detail while also serving as the section where I solder the bangle together. Once soldered, I heavily hammer the solid metal to create its dramatic, deeply dimensional 3-D texture. The severe hammering transforms the thick metal into a sculptural surface that catches the light differently from every angle. Three precise openings are individually drilled into the sterling silver section along the side wall of the bangle. Three flat Swarovski crystals are then individually inlaid by hand into those openings, creating an unexpected line of sparkle along the edge rather than across the top. This distinctive side-wall crystal inlay is one of the details that makes the Mixed Metal Crystal Inlay Fusion Bangle so unusual.
