Mani by JLL Pearl
Mani is the rose amethyst pyrite necklace I built around a pairing I had been thinking about for some time. Rose amethyst from France is lighter than regular amethyst — closer to blush, with a warmth that shifts between pink and champagne depending on the light. I needed a stone beside it that would add structure without introducing another colour. The stones French rose amethyst reads as a soft stone at first. But because pyrite rondelles have a flat, warm metallic finish, they bring a firmness that keeps the necklace present on the skin. I use them in small, evenly spaced form, so the rhythm between the two materials stays consistent. Moreover, the gold-plated clasp follows the same warm tone throughout — no visual break from one end to the other. Wearing Mani Mani sits close to the throat as a choker or falls slightly lower depending on preference. The sliding satin cord adjusts without tools — a single movement, no clasp to manage. Therefore, it works on bare skin, on a linen shirt, or on a light knit. Furthermore, the cord length can be reset between wearings, which means the piece moves easily from day to evening. I made this rose amethyst pyrite necklace in my studio in Greece, working through each stone individually before assembling the piece. Still, it is built for regular wear — the clasp holds, the cord keeps its setting. As a result, Mani arrives in its JLL Pearl pouch with a certificate of authenticity. Because I work with natural stones, no two pieces are exactly alike.
