A wonderful William Moorcroft Powder Blue Coffee Pot, with its rich blue glaze and distinctive dark speckling throughout. But the really interesting part is the story behind it. Moorcroft introduced the Powder Blue range around 1913–14, just as William Moorcroft was establishing his own pottery with the backing of Liberty & Co. The range became closely associated with Liberty and was used in their famous Tudor Tea Rooms in London. Remarkably, Powder Blue remained in production until 1963, giving it a fifty-year history. There is also a clever bit of design hidden in the lid. Rather than simply sitting on top, it twists into position so that it stays secure when the jug is tipped forward for pouring. Practical, simple and very Moorcroft. The pot is the in excellent vintage condition , with no chips or cracks. Collector’s Note: Powder Blue is a completely different side of Moorcroft. No flowers, no elaborate tube-lining, just that fabulous speckled blue glaze and beautifully considered form. Worldwide Shipping: We are always happy to ship worldwide. Your piece will be packed with great care and sent tracked.
