Labour
Labour, 2026 Cyanotype print on tea paper Presented through the visual language of The Queenslander, Labour considers the story of colonial prosperity alongside the realities of Blak child labour, removal and institutionalisation. Images of domestic service sit alongside wool, cotton and sugar, placing Blak children within the industries and labour that contributed to colonial wealth. The work questions systems where the language of education, training and care could conceal expectations of service, asking what happens to childhood when a child’s worth is measured through their labour.
