Chateau des Tourettes Tinus Grand Blanc Plateau de l'Aigle Vin de France 2024 750ml
Grand Blanc is built from a first selection of Roussanne, Marsanne and Viognier grown on the Plateau de l'Aigle, the highest ground on the estate at close to 420 metres. The altitude brings cool nights and a slow, drawn-out ripening on limestone-rich soils farmed organically, which is exactly what these southern varieties need if they are to keep their nerve. The nose is layered and unusual, with white peach, quince and honeysuckle over almond, beeswax and a fine chalky note. The palate is broad and textured without any heaviness, the richness of Roussanne and Marsanne held in check by acidity and a distinct stony grip, closing long, dry and faintly floral.Château des Tourettes was bought and completely reworked in 1997 by Maine and Jean-Marie Guffens, the couple behind Domaine Guffens-Heynen in the Mâconnais, who wanted to apply Burgundian thinking to an undervalued high-altitude Provençal terroir. The Tinus range, named for Jean-Marie's grandfather Martinus, began in 2016 when he grew tired of the grape variety restrictions imposed by the Luberon appellation and chose to bottle as Vin de France instead.Vintages may vary.
