Astrophytum Myriostigma var. Nudum

Astrophytum Myriostigma var. Nudum, commonly known as the Nude Bishop’s Cap or Hekiran, is a distinctive spineless form of the classic Bishop’s Cap cactus. Unlike typical Astrophytum myriostigma, which is covered in silvery white woolly flecks, the nudum form has little to no surface flecking, revealing the smooth colour of the stem beneath. Depending on the individual clone, the body may appear bright green, blue green, gray green, or even mauve green. Its strong ribs create the familiar star shaped silhouette when viewed from above, giving it the same sculptural geometry as the standard species but with a cleaner, more minimalist appearance. In Japan, this smooth skinned form is widely known as Hekiran and is especially prized among Astrophytum collectors.
