The Cake Spiral - Metal is a flexible spiral wrap that winds up and around a tiered cake, giving you a ready-made frame to build floral or foliage detail into without a single wire cutter or extra pair of hands. It's built from a metal core wrapped in a smooth white plastic coating, so it bends into shape easily and won't mark your fondant or your fingers. It's designed for cake professionals building statement tiered cakes, especially taller or heavier designs where a spiral needs to hold its shape and its position through setup, transport and the whole event. The metal core gives it more strength and structure than our original acrylic Cake Spiral, so it's the one to reach for on bigger cakes and heavier floral runs. You're paying for a purpose-built metal core with a smooth, durable plastic coating that holds its shape under the weight of florals, plus the custom attachment pieces to secure it into the cake. It's built to be reused, not thrown away after one event. Does the spiral touch the cake itself? It sits against the outside of your tiers, held in place with the included attachment pieces. It's not designed to be pushed into the sponge or buttercream. Can I reshape it for a different size cake? Yes. The metal core is designed to be gently bent and adjusted by hand, so you can fine-tune it for your exact tier heights each time you use it. Will it hold heavier decorations? It's built stronger than our acrylic spiral, but the amount of weight it can support still depends on how and where you attach your florals or embellishments. For heavier decorations, use the attachment pieces at multiple points along the spiral for extra support. How do I clean and store it? Wipe clean with a damp cloth. It's not dishwasher safe. Once you're done, it compresses down flat for easy storage. How is this different from the Cake Spiral™ Acrylic Wrap? The acrylic Cake Spiral is our lighter, clear option for smaller and mid-sized cakes. This metal version has a stronger core built for larger, taller tiered cakes and heavier floral designs.
