The EPH Controls EMBERTS21 is a complete wireless smart thermostat kit for two-zone heating or heating plus hot water control. It pairs a RFRP-TW programmable RF touch thermostat with an RF2B twin-channel receiver and the latest GW04-V2 dual-band Wi-Fi gateway, so you can manage your system from the wall or from anywhere using the EMBER app on iOS and Android. Zone 1 gives you full time and temperature control, while Zone 2 provides a convenient secondary timed output that can switch a hot water cylinder or a second heating zone. The thermostat is pre-paired to Zone 1 of the receiver, which keeps installation quick and simple for the installer and easy to operate for the homeowner. Zone 2 is time-controlled only (on or off), and can be used for heating or hot water depending on your system set-up. OpenTherm® compatibility OpenTherm® can only be used on the RF2B when two RF thermostats are connected to it. The thermostat is supplied with its mounting plate, table stand and screws, and is pre-paired to Zone 1 of the receiver. Can the EMBERTS21 control heating and hot water?Yes. Zone 1 provides time and temperature control for heating. Zone 2 is a timed on/off output that can be used for hot water or for a second heating zone. Zone 2 does not apply a temperature setpoint. Does it work with OpenTherm® boilers? OpenTherm® can only be used when two RF thermostats are connected to the RF2B receiver. What do I need for app control?You need the GW04-V2 gateway connected to your router by dual-band Wi-Fi or LAN cable, plus the free EMBER app on a compatible iOS or Android device. The Wi-Fi network name must not be hidden during pairing, and the gateway should be paired directly to the main router rather than a booster. Can I add more zones later?Yes. The system can be expanded to up to 6 zones using a maximum of 3 RF2B receivers. One receiver must be set as the hub and connected to the gateway, and additional receivers act as branch receivers. Which batteries and mounting position are recommended?The thermostat uses 4 x AAA alkaline batteries. Duracell or Energizer are recommended, as low quality brands can interrupt wireless communication or cause the thermostat to reset. Mount the thermostat around 1.5 metres above floor level, away from sunlight, drafts and heat sources. Fit the receiver within 20 metres of the thermostat, with at least 25cm clearance from metal objects and 1 metre from wireless devices.
