In Morning Glories (Asagao), dark leaves and winding stems interrupt the gray vertical forms, creating a rhythmic floral design on a pale ground. The arrangement combines a recognizable flowering vine with the simplified shapes of Japanese decorative art.The design comes from Flowers of a Hundred Worlds (Momoyogusa), published in 1909–10, and follows the Rinpa tradition.
