FAMILY BLESSINGS RUNE STAVE

The Family Blessings Rune Stave is a hand-burned wooden stave carrying an original Norse art design by May Oakmund, built around the intention of blessing and protecting the family unit. 25cm in height, 2.5cm wide. Only two remain from a small run made some time ago, found in storage. Once these are gone, they will not be remade. The stave is a form older than paper. Runes were carved into wood long before they were written onto vellum, and the act of burning intention into a piece of timber carries that weight with it. May Oakmund's design for this stave draws on that tradition, creating a piece that is both a meaningful Nordic art object and something made to be kept. Hand-burned onto natural wood. Each stave is individual by nature of the process.
