Concrete Loop Chairs
Iconic pair of concrete loop chairs by Willy Guhl with the most incredible mossy patina. The loop chairs were designed by Willy Guhl in 1954. Guhl watched as the Eternit fiber cement panels were fabricated with a machine at the Eternit factory in Niederurnen and came up with the design. Insane moss and lichen creating a super unique look. The loop chairs are made from a single sheet of fiber cement, hand constructed over a wooden mold. Willy Guhl had already determined the ergonomically correct seat profile with his brother's help in 1947 using impressions in clay made by sitting test persons, which were then cast in plaster. Like a sculptor, Guhl then reworked the seating loop's radii, always with a mind to the economy of production and the structural and material requirements. Great piece of design history. The best pair on the market for sale currently. Priced as a pair. Located at our Los Angeles gallery
