Who’s the baddest of them all? Well, if we’re talking about 1940s dress construction, that award would have to go to the ultimate baddie Dorothy O’Hara. She was literally known as the “queen of the knife pleat,” and for good reason. Her designs draped the female figure like an absolute dream, always with a very wicked edge. The draping on the hip of this one that reaches around and hugs the booty- it’s absolute sinful perfection. Original 1940s inky black rayon crêpe, impeccably constructed cocktail dress by designer Dorothy O’Hara. Features a long hidden back metal zipper, something rare for a 1940s dress, and I definitely appreciate this because they are much easier to get into. Huge 1940s shoulder pads for that perfect 1940s boss lady silhouette. 3D batwing design that jets off the shoulders with a dolman long sleeve that fastens at the wrist with hidden hooks and eyes. A very unique asymmetrically draped waistband that drops on the hip and curves over towards the lower booty. Intricately ruched radiating pleating coming from this dropped waist seam, all the way to the booty, hugging your booty so perfectly and making it look it’s juiciest. Obviously a nipped wasp waist with the slim pencil skirt that cascades full on one side because of the ruching. Total ideal hourglass film noir bombshell silhouette. Mint condition, size medium, accommodating a 34-36” bust, a 26-28” waist, up to 42” hips, and 47” total length. What else can I say, she’s absolutely perfect.
