This plate takes the form of a chrysanthemum in full bloom, with even the delicate creases of its petals finely rendered. The celadon color is rich and calm—like green leaves in morning light, or a clear sky—so the plate makes a quiet landscape of the table simply by sitting on it. An everyday main plate, in two colors At about 20.5 cm across and gently concave, it’s versatile enough for daily use—a main plate that holds everything from a full meal to a light course. The 1 cm foot raises it just enough to show off what it holds. It comes in two tones, sky blue (haneul-bit) and celadon green (cheongja-bit), which pair beautifully; collect both and layer them for a table that feels considered but never matched. A few natural characteristics Because this is handmade celadon, a couple of traits appear naturally and are part of its character rather than flaws: fine bubbles in the glaze, which form as the kiln holds a high temperature for a long time to bring out the celadon color; and small iron spots, which come from the sandy mineral content in the clay. About Lee Eun Bum is a Korean ceramic artist who works in the spirit of beopgo-changsin—"learn from the old to create the new." Building on the celadon tradition handed down from the Goryeo dynasty and adding a modern sensibility, he makes tableware meant to bring a quiet dignity to everyday life. He trained in onggi and traditional ceramics, studied ceramics at Hongik University, and runs his studio, Bom-eul Dameun Workshop (The Studio That Holds Spring). His work has been honored at Korea's Gangjin Celadon competitions—including a grand prize—and shown internationally, from Kanazawa, Japan to the Philadelphia Museum of Art Contemporary Craft Show, with pieces held by the Gyeonggi Gwangju Royal Kiln Museum and the Korean Cultural Centre UK. 이은범 작가는 '옛 것을 익혀 새로운 것을 만든다'는 법고창신(法古創新)의 정신으로 작업하는 한국의 도예가입니다. 고려시대부터 내려오는 청자의 전통에 현대적인 감성을 더해, 일상의 품격을 높여 주는 생활 식기를 선보입니다. 옹기와 전통 자기를 수련하고 홍익대학교 도예과를 졸업했으며, '봄을 담은 작업실'을 운영하고 있어요. 강진 청자 공모전 대상을 비롯해 여러 수상 경력이 있고, 일본 가나자와와 미국 필라델피아 미술관 공예전 등 국내외에서 작품을 선보여 왔으며, 경기도 광주 관요박물관과 주영 한국문화원 등에 작품이 소장되어 있습니다.
