SCENTED ART OBJECT

SCENTED ART OBJECT LOUISE ROE and 1OAMapotheke introduce the Scented Art Object, a collaboration bringing together two distinct creative practices through sculpture, natural materials and traditional craftsmanship. Cast and polished by hand by a craftsperson in Portugal, the object is formed in solid brass and finished in silver. Its weight, rounded silhouette and subtle irregularities preserve traces of the making process, giving every piece its own presence. With time and touch, the silver develops a natural patina, allowing the surface to change and record the life lived around it. Conceived as a sculpture, the object carries the precious character of jewelry into the interior. Familiar yet difficult to place in time, it recalls something discovered or inherited: an object of material, memory and permanence, created to be lived alongside, treasured and kept. The sculptural form holds a candle handcrafted by 1OAMapotheke from 100% pure Greek beeswax and scented solely with wild Cretan thyme essential oil. Both materials originate in Crete, connecting the candle to the warmth and aromatic character of the landscape. The candle is made using traditional waxmaking techniques passed down through generations of craftsmanship. With each burn, the fragrance unfolds gradually, allowing the essence of the Cretan nature to gently fill the surrounding space.
