Idaho 7® Hops USA
Idaho 7® Hops USA Idaho 7® is a modern, dual-purpose American hop variety bred and released in 2015 by Jackson Hop Farm in Wilder, Idaho. Flavor & Aroma Profile Fruit & Citrus: Strong notes of apricot, orange, red grapefruit, papaya, zesty tangerine, and pineapple. Resin & Herbaceous: Backed by resiny pine, earthy undertones, and a subtle herbal/floral quality reminiscent of Earl Grey black tea. Nickname: Playfully known as "007: The Golden Hop" or the "Sovereign of Survivables" due to its high content of aromatic compounds that hold up well through boiling and fermentation. Brewing Characteristics Alpha Acid Content: Typically ranges from 9% to 16% (depending on the crop year and source), making it capable of providing clean bittering as well as intense flavor. Best Uses: Shines in whirlpool, late-boil additions, and dry-hopping for IPAs, Pale Ales, hazy styles, and hoppy lagers. Common Pairings: Pairs well with hops like Citra, El Dorado, Simcoe, and Mosaic. Substitutions: Calypso, Loral, or El Dorado.
