Stockdale's Aesop in Boards

This is a 1793 first edition of Aesop's Fables with 112 engraved plates, originally bound in unopened boards. It includes a life of the author.

• The edition of Gay's Fables which was uniform with this set has plates engraved by William Blake.
• The illustrations were based on those of Francis Barlow in his 1666 edition, with clothing updated to the late 18th century.
