Originally created in 1982 by the legendary FUTURA 2000, this artwork captures the essence of the emerging Hip Hop culture. The central piece showcases a robot DJ inspired by Grandmaster Flash, spinning on four hovering turntables—a groundbreaking concept for its time, and the perfect celebration of Hip Hop turning 50. When placed together, the triptych reveals the abstract spelling of F-U-T-U-R-A, symbolising his innovative style and unique approach to graffiti. This edition, released for the first time on vinyl records, celebrates 50 years of Hip Hop and FUTURA's collaboration with Nas, who selected the tracks. *NOTES FROM THE ARTIST “Back in the day, along with the creation of alphabetic compositions, we often substituted a character, or characters, in the place of a letter or letters, to accentuate the design. in 1982, I made a painting entitled FUTURE LOOK FOR FLASH . . . a METALLIC TRIPTYCH (three individual elements) which depicts a ROBOTIC DJ . . . with two turntables and various mixers; in the abstract construction of the name FUTURA. it’s such an honor to hookup with Nas on this historical Hip Hop compilation."
